I did a lounge at Xmas, completed the upstairs toilet
a couple of weeks ago and am now in the middle of doing the hall which includes 6 doors.
I knew the paintwork was yellowing but when I did
the lounge at Xmas and compared the new white doors to those in the hall next door I couldn't believe just HOW yellow they'd become. Just
look at the difference - one door here is undercoated and the other half undercoated!

When I moved into this house 9 years ago I had it
gutted as it was formerly two flats and I decorated the lot from top to bottom (including sanding/varnishing floorboards, laying floor-covering, tiling,
fitting new door furniture, etc.), so it only needs cleaning up now - emulsioning walls and undercoat and glossing the woodwork. It
should be a million times easier this time.
This was the hall when I bought the house.

And here it is just before I started to redecorate. Funny how the doors don't look yellow without the white to compare it against.

9 years ago I whizzed through the whole house in 6
months, working at least a 16 hours day, every day without a break. There was an urgency to complete cos had to
start my teacher training that year. Now it's killing me to do just a few hours a day! I'm getting old, let's face it!
Anyhoo, questions ….
- Do you decorate your own home? How often and when was the last time?
- What wall colours do you normally go for? Single colour or patterned wallpaper?
- If you get a decorator in, are you usually happy with their standard of work? I've never found one in my life who can decorate as good as me and I refuse to pay them again for the damage!
- If you're a smoker, do you find you need to decorate much more often?

.
I've been thinking about doing 1 or 2 accent walls in a different colour. Haven't quite decided
yet. I have plenty of time to decide cos I'm still paying of some student debts before we decorate another room.
I'm going to have to hire them again and this time it's gonna be harder cos I'm 9
years older and not as fit.

and just
"made good". Of course all the paint is is off it again now when really it should have lasted a good 5 years.
I am loathed to pay for a
decorator to climb right up to the apex for that small job but will have to unless I force myself to climb up there and do it myself.
Nikki!
that looks fantastic Julia. It definately sounds like we have similar tastes.
