No, but I think I'd quite like to, provided it wasn't in my own house!

Voted no - never with my naked eye.
I and others have sensed a presence in our back room, and I have a particular photograph taken with my webcam with an anomaly that uncannily resembles a human face. Been debating on posting it here. |

Twice, I have en-counters of the curious kind.
The first was so real, that it has stayed with me for over 30yrs. The second is more resent. I believe in other Dimensions, and if there are other Dimensions, it follows there could be times when our Dimension and the other Dimensions over lap. The House I live in now is around 180 yrs old. The Family that lived in the house in 1860 was called the Jenkings. I am almost sure some still 'linger'. Turning to speak to someone who you are sure had just entered the room, and then finding no one standing there, is flairly common. No bad feelings, but sometimes a 'chill'. It does not bother me, but I have thought of getting someone in to see if there is anything there. |

I haven't seen one and don't want to. I did think I had sensed a presence once in the attic of our old house.
When my daughter was in high school, she told me that she had a strong sense of a malevolent presence once very early in the morning, but it never happened again. She said she felt so absolutely terrified that tears came to her eyes. We bought the house where we live presently from an elderly couple who were very frugal, especially the husband. The couple moved to be closer to their daughter, and a couple of years later the man died. Shortly after that, my long-distance calls started being inexplicably cut off before I was done talking. I wondered if it was the man thinking I was spending too much money on long-distance calls.

Karen, what a terrifying experience for your daughter! Wolf, I guess if the presence seems harmless enough there's nothing to worry about, but still I'd hate that in my own home.

The second is more resent. I'd love to hear more of your views on this. If you wish to talk to us about your haunting experience, I'd be all ears as well. When my daughter was in high school, she told me that she had a strong sense of a malevolent presence once very early in the morning, but it never happened again. She said she felt so absolutely terrified that tears came to her eyes. ~Karen Children (and even teenagers) often seem to be more receptive to spirits and whatnot, due to their innocence and young, open mind.
Julia: I agree! Nice or not, the prospect of knowing there'd be presence in my home freaks me out. And if it's malevolent, to quote Art Bell: "that's it, I'd be gone".

People vary in their expression of emotions as well as in their ability to pick up on the emotions of others.
Many believe that buildings act like a tape recorder, storing emotional experiences of the past. Very strong emotions, particularly negative emotions with violence or great sorrow, can often be picked up by people giving a house a happy or bad atmosphere. Most 'ghosts' are experienced as feelings or as a presence rather than a visable sighting. In the case of visible ghosts, it is often the repeated reenactment of acts from the past. It should also be remembered that many 'ghosts' are images projected by living people, usually connected in some way to the person living in the 'haunted' house. |

That is a concept that has fascinated me for years. I'd love to hear more of your views on this. Hello Permanentabyss.
The First is that (and just resently Stephen Hawkins stated he believed that there were up to 11 Dimensions in our world), we know that there are 4
Dimension and allowing like all theories, when reseach is started new idea's and proofs come to light, if we are living with other Dimensions around us it
could mean that every now and again they 'open to each other'. Plus secondly, and this is taking the Theory even further, is it possible that a record
of events are in some ways 'imprinted' on the surroundings of a place, and then a trigger sets them off.

The extra dimension theory could explain some apparitions, wolf, but what of where the ghost is known?
Does past history exist in another dimension? I think as an example of the sightings of roman soldiers, or ghosts of people who look like their portraites hung in the same building. |

I am coming to believe Dartmistress, that "All is not as it seems". There have been many accounts of 'happenings' when people experience a visitations.. If we just take one small step on, then would it not be possible that deep within our Brains there is much we don't even know is there.

Exactly wolf, not supernatural just perfectly natural, that we don't understand yet.
You don't have to accept everything, just keep your mind open to new ideas. As long as you don't dismiss things, just because you don't understand them, gradually you learn. |

I have yet to see a ghost, but I'm almost certain I felt one in a church in Aken, Germany, used by Charlemagne.
It is rare, but if there is something supernatural, I get an enormous headache, seemingly centered on the point of where the thing came from. In that case it was a throne which historians are not sure about what purpose it served. |

Fascinating, Diegro. Pity that it manifests itself in such a painful way.

It is a pity that you had this reaction. Did the experience make you feel tense or afraid?
I ask because this can sometimes be the cause of the pain. It could be an attempt at communication that you were fighting. If you ever have this experience again, try and relax; though I know this is not easy, but it could be worth it. |

No, no tension or fear. It was a school trip and no-one else felt it, but I've been sensitive for emotions, pain and other kinds of "human
energy" all my life. My theory is that, while I sensed the presence of "something" (I'm still not certain what it was, but it wasn't
natural), my mind could not process it. Once I left the church it was over. I haven't had this in any other churches I have been. *pant pant* Thats about
all the details, make of it what you want...

I only throw possibilities in the air, my friend, for you to think about.
If you are a sensitive it may be that you are picking up on the pain of another; either in the sense of someone physical who was standing near you or a memory of pain felt in the past, in a particular area close by. Remember that it would be natural for your friends to deny any knowledge. If someone is in pain they would probably not associate their headache with what you are feeling. If you are interested, in time you may learn how to focus on the area in question and by doing so learn more. One thing I will say, if you do have a gift, try not to immediately jump on the word 'supernatural', as so many do. Instead, try to work things out logically, using natural first. |

I wasn't angry back there, calm down...
About focusing: Maybe good to try, I've never tried. I can focus inwards to use emotional energy as fuel for my body. I don't call it supernatural, just "abnormal", because it probably stems from my Asperger syndrome. i think anyone can sense such things, if they concentrate enough, it is just magnified by my brain, just like my pain, my emotions and my intelligence. It's just hard sometimes to keep things under control. (ps: sorry if that seemed arrogant, wasn't meat that way.) |

We only label it 'supernatural' or 'unnatural' because we do not yet understand it. One day, it may become entirely 'natural'. We just
have to understand the physical law that would make it so.
I don't think I've ever seen a ghost. I don't know for certain because I've read somewhere that ghosts can appear substantial just like any living person. Who's to say that the occasional ghost doesn't mingle with the crowd occasionally? |

I don't know for certain because I've read somewhere that ghosts can appear substantial just like any living person.I've heard of this too, and even have clairvoyant friends who've experienced such a phenomenon (security cameras were played back later to reveal no one there, even though multiple people saw this person). |

When my two daughters were around 6 or 7 years old I can remember calling for them to come down from upstairs..thinking they were there...I'd seen figures
walk across the landing..but my daughters had been downstairs all the time.
A couple of weeks later I was outside the house cutting the hedge when a couple, who lived up the road, came past and asked me.... "Did you know your house is supposed to be haunted?" *Cue twilight zone music..*
