I prefer the second one but it wouldn't relax me because I find anything I don't particularly care for an irritant. The first one gives me the creeps. I would never purchase "relaxation music" for the sake of it being "relaxation music". I buy music simply because I love it and relaxation music does nothing for me at all.

I suppose it depends what I've been up to that gives me cause to relax...
A bit of classical, but more often than not Peter Gabriel... Come Talk To Me Here Comes The Flood San Jacinto All usually on as loud as I can get away with....
If those don't do the trick....a big blast of AC/DC soon will.

Don't think any song has a more calming effect on me than this.

Me too, I actually like yours well enough, just wouldn't relax me.
But mine might send someone to sleep maybe. |

I can't say any music, no matter how soothing, would help me relax because it's simply doing what I enjoy that helps me relax and most things I enjoy like reading, posting at Ditto, chatting with friends are better done in silence. I just don't understand this relaxation music thing it depends what mood I'm in and what I want to do to relax. I might be in a mood when I want to relax in which case I'd probably enjoy some hip hop or rap
which is far from "relaxation music". I just don't get it.
I like Keith's 'Here Comes The Flood' and the guy's voice but not for relaxing but simply 'cos I like it. don't like the search facility stuck in youtubes now...ugly.It looks like they've ditched that idea, Heather.

Music can have a really calming effect on me, I can be wound up, aggitated, and music (some more than others) will really calm me down and make me feel relaxed, it's like an audio elixir.

It was interesting to see what calms people! I like Peter Gabriel ! Ray Lamontagne is very nice too. I also like Sombiences a lot as I am a fan of Tangerine
Dream/Klaus Schulze music which it reminded me of! I may have included this next one elsewhere-but its one of my faves -sigur ros - Svefn-g-englar

Wayne, that -sigur ros - Svefn-g-englar whateveritis is enough to make a person depressed! I really like the second one though, especially the rhythm.

That's pretty.
Some might consider 'Big My Secret' by Michael Nyman, from the film The Piano, relaxing but I listen to it simply because I love it. I so want to learn to play this on the piano but of course

Ravel's Bolero or certain parts of Grieg's Peer Gynt suite probably relaxes me the most. As far as more popular music goes, probably the first part of
Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells.

Very nice and relaxing Julia! Yes ,Kodeine, Tubular Bells was one of the first "New agey" pieces of music-probably inspired countless musicians!
Terry Oldfield (his brother) also produces lovely music and their sister Sally is a good songwriter. Quite a family! By way of illustration here is Terry with

I remember Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells' well which was good stuff but I was never into that scene.
My son, Ali, called round this evening mad keen to download a piano sheet music for this piano solo he's fallen in love with which he's heard on some Japanese animation film. I've been listening to him learn to play it on the piano for the past hour and it's grown on me. Lovely and …. very relaxing. Theme of Tears (Piano solo) |
