To me its not a phobia, though I would suspect that Julia would say it is. I have this thing about punctuality. On time means on time, not early, not late, but
on time. I'm not paranoid about punctuality, but always try to aim for it.

I don't think that's a phobia, Rudo, but maybe my fear of being late for you is.
I have a fear of heights but I'm not sure it's a phobia as such as I once painted/decorated the staircase ceiling that required me to reach it from
scaffolding as it was so high up, and after ten minutes I was fine. I'm also scared of mice but can just about cope if the cat brings one into the house, whereas I'm sure I'd die if they brought a rat home.
I have some tutees who are terrified senseless of my cats (of all cats). I encourage them to face the cats as I feel sure it'll help them, but they
won't hear of it. |

I'm glad to hear that at least your not paranoid about it, Rudo. I have a thing about being on time too, but when I was younger it didn't matter nearly
as much as it does now to me.
Julia, I have been on a cable car before, and I loved it. I guess I don't have a fear of heights then.
For me, I have several fears.. The worse is a fear of snakes, and no way do I want to face that fear.
I also have a fear of public speaking, and absolutely hated it in school when we had to get up in front of the class and give speeches. One of my fears is of storms, specifically storms with high winds, because I had a rather traumatic experience several years ago. Whenever a storm comes
along, you will always find me watching it as it passes by, usually on the front porch. It's a rather strange thing too, but I feel better if I can see
what is happening. If that makes sense. I can deal with it a lot better now though, before I used to have terrible anxiety attacks if I were caught in a storm.

I just came back from the Doctors office where he drew some blood. I have Aichmophobia.

I guess that discounts the chances of you ever becoming a nurse, then, Dune.
Sorry about your traumatic storm experience, Michelle.
Ohhh, I had that too, which is ironic considering I'm a teacher. I ooze with confidence in a classroom full of students but ask me to speak publicly in front of my peers and I'm reduced to a dithering nervous wreck ... and I had to do it often, especially in teacher training and staff training. I'm not so bad if I can stay put in my seat, but to have to stand at the front and speak - give a presentation!! |

Julia, as a teacher, it's a good thing that you don't have - Bibliophobia (The fear of books).

Why am I having this thought of Julia precariously perched on top of 50 books, painting the ceiling?

I wasn't aware of having any phobias. I've done the public speaking thing, and wasn't phased by it. Actually, I kinda liked it.
I had a quick look through the list and the closest that applies to me is probably this one: 'Phobophobia- Fear of phobias' I don't wish to have a phobia, thank you ~ Bruce |

Don't laugh or think I am weird BUT I detest using public restrooms because of the fear of contracting some disease. YOu never know how dirty people are.
If I see a homeless person touching food and vegetables in a grocery store, I will NEVER buy my food and vegetables from that store again.
Other than that, the only fear I have is if my home goes through foreclosure. |

rational fears:
1. turbulence & air pockets (plane rides) 2. abandoned public toilets irrational fears: 1. It scares me a bit to close my eyes when I wash my face. 2. I dont like sleeping with the moonlight on me nor any part of my bed.

Okay, this one gets stuck under irrational fears. I despise chipmunks. I cannot stand them. They reduce me to every single little ninny thing
about girly behaviour that I hate. They are jerky and unpredictable. They are liquid fast and far too habituated. Anything that has to turn its head to see
you is just creepy.
I don't like clowns either. And I don't care that their eyes face forward, they're still creepy. |

Michelle, you said you hate snakes. If you ever come to California I will show you that you have nothing to fear. I love handling all types of snakes including
rattlesnakes. This one of the reasons why I am VIPER. I can pick one up and be on cloud nine.

I don't like clowns either Michelle. There's something kinda err, ummm, ummmm, funny about them!

Michele, I know I shouldn't laugh, but just thinking of you screaming and such then seeing everyone else panic thinking something big and dangerous may have escaped...priceless! Sounds like something that would happen to me. Steve, I am so sorry to disappoint you but.. NO WAY! |

I'm sure I'd have a fear of snakes if I ever encountered one but we don't get that many where I live, and when we did, he made headline news, but then he would because he was found in someone's toilet a few roads away from me!
I've posted this before but I think he deserves another mention ... considering.

This snake reminds me of a story a long time ago, when i lived in Macclesfield. A friend of my sister in law was sat down to dinner with her family when she
felt something tickle her leg. When she looked under the table, a snake was climbing up her leg.
It turned out to be a pet, of a young man that lived further down the row. They think it must have got in to the pipes and made it's way in to Alicia's house. |
