Officers lay flowers at spot where two police dogs were left to die in handler's car on hottest day of year
The RSPCA is investigating after two police dogs died when they were left in a dog handler's car during the heatwave. The German shepherds were found in the car at the headquarters of Nottinghamshire Police yesterday. |

my state finally made this a felony, a serious crime. it is no different than leaving an infant in a hot car, which is also a crime.

How outrageous that dog handlers, police dog handlers of all people, should be guilty of such a crime. They, of all people, should have known better.

I don't understand. Handlers Bond with their Animals, more then just Pets. Hopefully an explanation will be forth coming as too why the Dogs were left.

This is tragic but extremely surprising, police dog handlers are devoted to their dogs, the fact that the handler didn't leave the dogs at home would
suggest this, although given what happened it would've been better had they been left at home, this is so sad. We don't know the circumstances though,
while this is extremely upsetting maybe there was something that occurred that would explain them being left for so long, mental illness, anything, I can't
imagine anyone in their right mind who could do something to prevent this wouldn't. I've seen handlers in tears over losing their dogs to old age or
criminals. Actually on Nightwatch they repeated the episode about Bryn the police dog, I couldn't watch it again, I wept buckets last time, and
the handler had to fight back the tears.

I'm not a dog lover, not even an animal lover, but I still cry over an animal being mistreated - right is right and wrong is just wrong. I've called
911 a couple times when I've seen dogs left in hot cars. What's the matter with people - if you love the critters then treat them right, if you
don't love them, give them to someone that does.
I agree, it should definately be a crime, a felony though is kinda rough even for this Texan to go along with, I don't quite relate critters to people, but as I said, I'm not an animal lover, I'm sure they would disagree with me. |
